What Nobody Tells You About Maternal Mental Health

There are so many things people tell you about becoming a mom.
They’ll tell you about sleepless nights.
About feeding schedules.
About swaddling or tummy time or the perfect stroller.
But here’s what they don’t always tell you...
That you might feel both completely in love and completely overwhelmed at the same time.
That loneliness can sneak in, even with a baby in your arms all day.
That grief for your old life, your freedom, or even your old self can live right next to joy.
That anxiety can take hold in ways you never expected, through racing thoughts,
constant worry, or an invisible weight on your chest.
This is the side of motherhood we don’t talk about enough.
But here’s the truth I want every mother to know:
You are not broken.
You are not failing.
And you are absolutely not alone.
Your mental health matters — not just so you can get through the day, but so you can feel like yourself again. You deserve support, softness, and space to heal. Every single mother does.
